No MLB in 2020!

One random night at Yankee Stadium, the sky did this. : baseball
The chances of getting MLB games this year seems to be getting slimmer by the day. Originally players had agreed to a pro-rata salary for the 2020 season, but team owners have decided to go against the original decision and are now asking for a shared revenue pay scheme for the season. This has led to players such a Blake Snell and Trevor Bauer to come out publicly and say they are not happy with the new deal, putting another dent into the chances of a season for 2020.

Reaction to this has been interesting, to say the least. Some fans are backing the players, saying that the original deal should be stuck to, some saying the players are being greedy wanting more money. All I know is I want to watch the MLB this year, but it is looking less and less likely.

There are some losers and winners from this (mainly losers). The biggest losers are the fans; with no play this year we will be waiting until next year to see any games. The Dodgers; Mookie Betts will become a free agent without ever playing a game! Fight fans will miss out on a huge year for potential fights in the league. Without any Astros games, it means that there is a chance for the bad blood to simmer down in time for next season.

There are a couple of winners, the Astros get to wait another year to face the chin music on the field. There is a chance the bad blood may die down enough that only a couple of fights happen next year. Alex Corra and A.J Hinch will be able to see out their year suspension without missing a game, a huge win for them, although chances of them getting a job next year should be slim.

The Premier League and NBA look likely to restart their seasons shortly, and after the recent sign-stealing scandal, the MLB needs to get its house in order. Hopefully, we will have a 2020 MLB season, even if it is a short one. Watching games with no fans will certainly beat having no games at all. Before that can happen though, the players and owners need to come to an agreement.
