The Weekly Puttdown 6-12/1/2020
The Weekly
Puttdown
Welcome to the weekly Puttdown. A weekly run through off the
major news from the major sports around the globe. Short and to the point, cutting
through the drivel and not to be taken to seriously.
NFL:
The Texans blew a 24-point lead; they blew it so quickly it was
gone before half time. The Packers ruined Lynches coming out of retirement
party, but it was nice to see they game him the ball on the goal line twice,
unfortunately, this doesn’t change history. Baltimore Ravens players decided
not to turn up in their most important game of the year, forgetting that, when
the ball is thrown to you, that you are meant to catch it. Derrick Henry
continued to walk through defences, one point even making an opponent in to a
lead blocker. The 49ers blew out the
Vikings, which led the Cleveland Browns to employ the Vikings OC as their new
head coach after he got embarrassed that same weekend, a move that only the
Cleveland Browns would do.
NBA:
The Lakers continue to lead the West and the Bucks continue
to lead the East. In an unprecedented move, the mascot of the Kings took on the
entire Bucks roster in a wrestling match, unsurprisingly he came out the loser,
being pined by MVP Antetokounmpo who continues to show, just like Finals MVP
Kawhi Leonard, he is a fun guy.
Football (Premier
League unless otherwise stated):
Not much changes within the Premier League at the moment.
Liverpool are still miles in front and look like they are cruising to their
first Premier League title (football existed before the Premier League).
Everybody still hates VAR.
MLB:
Mookie Betts has signed the highest ever Arbitration
contract in the history of the sport. This comes in the same week as the Red
Sox have been accused of stealing signs in the 2018 season and I’m sure more
will come out about this in the coming weeks.
Golf:
Tiger Woods announced his first start in 2020 would be at
the Farmers Insurance Open on 23rd January.
NHL:
A goalie scored! Pekka Rinne scored for the Nashville
Predators against the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago has now been relegated to the
college level to have a think about what they’ve done.
Honourable
Mentions:
A game in the FA Women’s Super League was postponed due to a
waterlogged pitch. I’m not saying the sport in under funded but….
Serena Williams won her first title in 3 years, which is not
a good sign for her opponents for 2020.
