What Happens Next?

With talk of professional sports coming back, there is talk about how the leagues will be set out and what will happen. Below you will be able to see MY hopes and predictions for what happens when the individual sporting leagues return.

NBA: At this point in the year we would be in the middle of the playoffs. I believe once the leagues return, they will go straight into the playoffs but instead of 8 teams from each division qualifying, everyone qualifies, that's right, that includes the New York Knicks. The playoffs will be set up in a March Madness-style, winner takes all in the majority of the rounds. This will be until the conference finals, which will be expanded to a 3 game series and the finals a 5 game series. Lebron James will lead his Lakers to the final to only be beaten again at the final hurdle, by Giannis and his Bucks. The Bucks have Donte DiVencenzo on their roster, a previous NCAA champion, and master of the March madness format. He will, unsurprising to me, go on to be finals MVP as Giannis shoots 5% from 3.

EPL: The Premier League Will return to finish the season, but not in a way that anyone expects. They will play the remaining games in 40 minute, 7 a side games. To speed up the process to finish the league, they will play back to back games on game days to help get through the schedule in time. Also to play enough games that they can crown Liverpool the champions before deciding that the format isn't working and calling it a day there. Doing this will relegate the teams in the bottom 3, who will go on the sue the league, only to have it thrown out of court for agreeing to the terms in the first place.

NFL: The draft shows that the league will go on and nobody or no virus is going to stop them. The league will start on time with stadiums full of fans. Everything will flow as expected, however, there will be a few deaths here and there, players, coaches, and fans. The NFL will do what it can to cover these up, they will put them down to 'natural causes' or anything else their lawyers can muster up, to cover up the fact the league shouldn't have gone ahead with stadiums full of fans.

NHL: Being down the pecking order as far as sports popularity in North America, the NHL will do what it can to try and increase this. They will end up copying the NBA's system to a tea, meaning even the LA Kings will be in the playoffs. I have no idea who will go onto the win, but I certainly hope Vegas do, just to make the Last Vegas Raiders the least successful team in Vegas for the foreseeable future.

PGA Tour: Seeing as the tour hasn't come up with anything inventive in the past 100 years. All tournaments that would have gone ahead will still be cancelled.  They will come back and play the normal bland 4-day format. The only good thing to look forward to is the Masters, which, baring actually getting Corona Virus before the tournaments starts, Tiger Woods will be back healthy to play. Having had more time to practice, he will go on to win back to back masters tournaments, again confirming that he is the GOAT.

MLB: The MLB will come back and start playing 2, 7 inning games in an attempt to play all 162 games, nobody knows why though, why do they need to play that many games? Because of this, we will see new records being set. Mike Trout will hit 6 home runs in one day, and Jacob DeGrom will set a record for complete games in a season. Nobody will have forgotten about what the Houston Astros did either, meaning that teams will have just as many chances to throw pitchers at the players, going on to set a new record for hit by pitches in a season. The LA Dodgers will go on to play the New York Yankees in the world series, the series will go the full 7 games, the Dodgers winning on a Mookie Betts walk-off home run. After the game, his Dodger jersey will be ripped off to show a Red Sox jersey underneath, fans of the Yankees will storm the field in an attempt to get to Betts. Betts will escape their grasp, disappearing down the tunnel into a car waiting for him outside the stadium to get him to the airport and on a plane back to Boston, who he will re-sign with in free agency.
